Deena - Drums
Third Place originally formed late 2003 when Matthew Sheldon wanted to form a band. He wanted to play bass
guitar & he asked Chris Duckworth to play guitar in the band... but Chris never learnt guitar & has only just started
to learn now, he then asked Matthew Cowan to play drums, Matthew agreed, but unfortunately wasn't suitable for the band &
also preferred metal music. Then Matthew came to Kris Ball & asked him to do vocals in the band, Kris also wanted to play
guitar too.
At this point "Anti Everything" was born (Anti Everything was our original name)
As you can see we lost two members of the band due to problems, but hope to have Chris in the band in the
near future although Kris hopes he gets a more suitable guitar for the style of the band than an Explorer (pointy guitar for
non-guitarists)
In recent times Third Place have played two school talent shows & have also played at a church fair (sad
but true!!). We are now currently on the lookout for gigs. Kris is organizing a gig at Fleetwood Rugby Club in November, &
the band have been offered gigs at an Italian restaurant (to do an acoustic set) & have also been offered a support slot
with a popular unsigned act called Running On Empty when they play in Manchester next. Also we will be playing at Kris' dads
graduation party.
On July 20th both Kris & Matthew were on their holidays respectively, when Kris (who was feeling particularly
unwell after having a dog bite his leg & boiling in the high temperatures) received a phone call from Brad saying that
he had been put in touch with me by an agent who had seen our advert for a drummer. Brad said that he would be happy to play
drums for us. Brad used to be in a punk band called 'The Doofs' alongside Three Quarters guitarist Chris Wadsworth, Kris spoke
to him about Brad & Chris said he was a good drummer, although at the time of writing Kris & Matthew haven't yet heard
him, Brad will almost defiantly be playing with Third Place which has finally made us a complete permanent line up!!!
But, as always, when things seem to good to be true, it usually means it is, Kris phoned Brad up to organize
a time to practice as a band for the first time, Brad told Kris that he had to move back down to London, so we are drummer-less
again!!!
But never fear! for Deena came to our rescue when Matthew & Kris had their MSN names as "Drummer required
urgently for Blackpool Band" when Deena spoke to Kris to say she would play for us, although she said she didn't have a kit,
it was because she sold her old one to buy a Pearl Kit with plenty cymbals!
